Unit 1: Immortality 2.0 (1èreG1)

Extended Life

The document under study is an extract from Time magazine, published in 2023. It deals with a man named Bryan Johnson who is obsessed with the idea to live as long as possible. To do so, he has spent more than $4 million dollars in a life extension system named Blueprint. The method consists in having his body studied and analyzed by doctors who tell him what to do, what to eat. Therefore, he has a strict diet and a precise sleep schedule. Furthermore, he takes daily 54 pills. The aim of all this process is to reduce his “biological age”. There are benefits to this process: he has a pale and glowing skin. Moreover, he is 46 years old, however, his body and organs are biologically younger. On top of that, through his experience, researchers are making breakthroughs while trying to make him stay younger.  Nevertheless, he is using a scientific method that has not been proved to work fully yet. Besides, experts say that death is not optional as it is written in our genes.
