America’s 250^th Birthday: Unity or political divide?

The document under study is a new report published on Sky News on July 4^th 2026. It is about the 250^th anniversary of America. We can see all the festivities that took place all over the country with fireworks, flyovers, cowboys, parades… Nevertheless, despite this celebration, the country is polarized. In fact, we can hear some patriotic statement such as people saying that America is the best country in the world. Moreover, they display love and gratitude to their president. Furthermore, one lady says that if people are against the values and the image of the country, they should leave it. In addition, we can hear political statements: a man is explaining that Trump is trying to put his name everywhere, that is seen as a form of high jacking. Trump is also accused of polarizing the country for instance: anyone who supports him shows their love to America, on the other hand, anyone who does not love him means that they hate America.

To conclude, the festivities were clearly divided among the citizens and even on the political base with Trump who decided to rebrand the celebration “Freedom 250” in contrast with America250 that had been organized by Congress 2 years ago.
