7: Citizenship and Virtual Worlds
A definition:
A social network is an online platform on which you
can have virtual interactions with others and connect with the whole wide
world. Moreover, you can also share videos,
photos, send instant messages or even check the news. On
top of that, social media make people more open-minded
thanks to the diverse online social interactions. On those applications,
it is also possible to chill and to relax through online games and music. It is
also possible to learn new languages thanks to the international connections.
However, if you do
not know how to deal with them properly,
they could be very harmful for you. In fact, you can be a victim of cyberbullying, or usurpation
of identity. Furthermore, you can become addicted
and isolated as they can be time-consuming.
Someone can violate your privacy by stealing your personal information to sell
them (cyberattack). Eventually, there can be an impact
on your writing skills because of the short messages you are accustomed to
send.
