 The Woodstock Festival

The document under study is an extract from an article published in the San Diego Union Tribune in 2019. It deals with the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival. Woodstock was known for being the most famous rock festival. It took place in a farm situated upstate New York in August in 1969. Almost 400,000 to 500,000 people attended this festival.

The festival was not well organized, it was raining most of the time, the ground was muddy, eventually, it was not that comfortable for people there. However, people at this festival felt like as if they belonged to same community united through music.

Woodstock is still remembered as an important event because despite the fact that at the time, there were social and political divisions, people were able to overcome them and gather around music.

To conclude, 50 years later, in 2019, a commemorative festival was organized to pay tribute to the very first one.
