In addition, they were seen as a threat to the society because their use of drugs could be influential to others. Besides, they were influenced by rock’n’roll music and by a man named Timothy Leary whom they made their leader. In addition, they were strongly opposed to the work ethic and had religion beliefs and would follow eastern philosophies that were unknown to Americans. In 1967, a large number of Hippies took over a district in San Francisco, Haight-Ashbury where they settled in during the summer. It was called the Summer of Love.

Eventually, reality hit when they had to go back to the real life and have a job to take care of their families, pay the bills… Therefore, it was a utopian world because their way of life was not feasible in the long run.
