The document
under study is an extract from a novel entitled “Brave New World”, written by
Aldous Huxley, published in 1932.
This extract
deals with a director who is giving a tour of his facilities/lab to some students
to present his last innovation/breakthrough.
He is proud, passionate, enthusiastic, thrilled and self-confident about it. Additionally, he is convinced that his innovation will
improve the society in the future.
However,
this breakthrough will lead to the creation
of identical clones and a lack of diversity. Besides,
these clones will be treated like slaves and will be seen as potential cheap labor force.
On
one hand, this innovation will lead to the birth of healthier
people and can wipe out all sicknesses. On the other hand, this breakthrough
will dehumanize people and everyone will be the same.
Homework: Learn the lesson.
