We have learned that the acronym P.O.T.U.S. means President of the USA. (FLOTUS means First lady of the USA). In the American Presidential Elections, there are 4 main events : The first is Primary election, then the Conventions, then Election Day, finally Inauguration Day.

The Primary Elections usually take place from January to June of the year of the election. During the Primaries, each party select their candidates for the elections. On the Conventions, the candidates that have been selected make a large meeting to announce their candidacy and their running mates. Then, on Election Day takes place usually in November, the citizens vote for their candidate. Finally, Inauguration Day takes place at the White House, in Washington DC in January.

A Caucus State is a state in which citizens gather in meetings to vote openly for their candidates during the Primaries such as Iowa.

A Swing State is a state in which the population often change their preference for a party.
